The iPhone turns 5 Years Old Tomorrow

The iPhone turns 5 Years Old Tomorrow [250 Million Units Sold, $150 Billion in Revenue]

Apple showed off the first iPhone at Macworld in San Francisco way back in January 2007, but the company’s first smartphone didnt ship until six months later, arriving in stores on June 29th, 2007.
That means the iPhone turns five years old tomorrow, and research firm Strategy Analytics sent out a press release reminding folks that Apple has sold 250 million iPhones so far that, over the product’s lifetime, have generated about $150 billion in revenue for the company.
According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, Apple has generated US$150 billion of cumulative revenues for its iPhone family in the first five years since launch in June 2007. A quarter of a billion iPhones have been shipped cumulatively worldwide.
Neil Shah, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, said, “Apple’s first iPhone was launched commercially in the United States on June 29, 2007. Between June 2007 and June 2012, we estimate the iPhone family of models has generated US$150 billion of cumulative revenues worldwide for Apple. This is an impressive achievement and it illustrates just how popular the iPhone has become during the past five years.”
Geezas. And to think that was just one phone. Sales of Apple’s smartphone continues to grow with more than 100 million sales in the last year itself. There’s been more than 35 million iPhone 4S units sold in the last two quarters, and according to Business Insider, the phone generates more quarterly profit than Google, GE,or Microsoft, or Google.
